On Sunday evening 12/9/12 Squad 2161 on the A-Shift has a working vehicle fire across from St#1 on Elm Rd. Apparantently the driver of the vehicle was driving down the St. Joseph Valley when they struck a large amount of metal in the roadway, going through the vehicle window, vehicle gas tank, engine, and being lodged under the vehicle causing the fire. On Wednesday 12/5/12 B-Shift responded to Harrison East of Blackberry for a single vehicle rollover crash. Upon arrival companies found a vehicle that had rolled over numerous times and was back on all wheels but had pinned the 17 year old driver. Squad 2161, Medic 13 and BC 21 assisted by Squad 2162 extricated the female driver using both the Hurst Cutters and Spreaders. Here are some photos from the wreck.
Sunday 11/26/12 was a busy shift for A-Shift. The crews responded to a total of 10 runs for the day, including this rollover accident on Jefferson in front of the Village Pantry across from the AM General Hummer Plant. Squad crews 2161 and 2162 used the Rescue 42 struts to stabilize the vehicle and extricated the driver using the Hurst Tool. Penn Medic 13 transported the injured driver.
On the night of Sunday 11/25/12 A-Shift responded Mutual Aid with Tanker 2142 and Battalion 21 to 30820 Block of Oak Springs Drive in Cleveland Twp. in Elkhart Co. Tanker 2142 hauled numerous loads of water while crews struggled to bring the fire under control due to it being in numerous void spaces throughout the house. Eventually a piercing nozzle was needed to bring the fire under control.
